MISSIONS

HAVING A MISSIONAL HEARTBEAT

Jesus said “as you are going, make disciples…” (Matthew 28:18-20) revealing that missions is to be the heartbeat of our lives. As a missional community, we want to uniquely share Christ in the environment in which we find ourselves. So whether we are enjoying life with our friends or family, or working through a challenging issue in our vocational work, we believe that having a missional heartbeat is central to helping our world know Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus and His message must be brought to bear on every area of life. We believe that the message of Jesus is for all. Therefore, we are intentional in our missional outreach as we share His Good News. Simply put, we believe that missions is critical to people taking their “next step” with God.

At Calvary Lighthouse United, we focus on both local and international mission efforts primarily through tried and true partnerships with people and organizations that know their communities best. Whether its helping a local inner-city school prepare for a new school year, providing food to a local food pantry, meeting the needs of single moms in the community, or traveling overseas to help a small church in Mexico host a vacation Bible school for their puebla, our people seek to partner with others to transform our world for Jesus Christ. In a nutshell, we strive to live out our core value of “saved people, serve people” in tangible ways that demonstrate the love of Christ in word and action to our world.

If you are interested in missions, look for mission opportunities that are shared directly through our various media platforms as they arise throughout the year. Virtually all of our local mission opportunities are open to all. In fact, you don’t have to attend Calvary Lighthouse UNITED to participate. If you are willing to partner with us to share the message and love of Jesus we welcome your participation. International mission efforts, however, are handled differently. Generally, these trips are limited in space and require prior approval to attend because of the circumstances surrounding each trip. So whether it is a local or international mission effort, we encourage you to sign up at our Next Steps Counter or contact the church office if you are interested in a mission project when it arises. You will be amazed how one mission effort will transform you and your world!
